V for Vendetta marked James McTeigue's directorial debut. After directing the three Matrix films, the Wachowskis weren’t interested in returning to directing right away, but they did make alterations to their V for Vendetta script, including moving the story forward in time and making Evey older. Well done to the Wachowskis.Lana and Lilly Wachowski acquired the rights to V for Vendetta in the mid-1990s, then promptly wrote their own screenplay. I could so easily have been disappointed but I wasn't. I say all this as prelude to show the expectation I had when the Wachowskis made this film. I wore a T-shirt with a V and a Mask on it for ten years until it fell to pieces around my beergut and this before the film was even made. Then warrior died, destroyed by a lawsuit it could not defend against Marvel comics for reprinting the comic ]. right up to the point where an episode consisted entirely of the lyrics and sheet music of ].
